Sixteen Children Die Again in Gorakhpur’s BRD Medical College In Last 24 Hours: The Alert India

Sixteen children including 10 infants, died at the Baba Raghav Das (BRD) Medical College in Gorakhpur during the last 24 hours, authorities said on Monday.
Ten children were admitted in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) while other six were in the pediatric ICU. And three dozen patients, mostly effected by encephalitis, were being treated at the hospital, five patient from Bihar also treated there, doctors said.
The FIR was lodged against nine people including the owner of the oxygen supply company and the principal of BRD Medical College.
The same college hit the headlines earlier in August when over 63 children, including infants died within a span of one week due to disconnection of oxygen supply by the vendor.
The doctors said the latest death did not occur due to lack of oxygen, treatment or anything else but the fact that they were brought to the hospital in a very critical condition .
Total 290 children died in the hospital in the month of August, of whom 213 died in the Neonatal Intensive Care ward and 77 in the encephalitis ward, Principal P.K.Singh had told PTI.
