Legislation Updates: Enacting the new Mental Healthcare Act, 2017, Parliament has decriminalized the attempt to commit suicide. A Person attempting to commit suicide shall be presumed to be under severe stress and shall not be prosecuted or punished under section 309 of the Indian Penal Code,1860 unless proven otherwise
