The Criminal Investigation Department on Wednesday arrested the BJP IT Cell in-charge Tarun Sengupta from Asansol for allegedly posting fake images and videos on facebook with an intention to create communal tension. He was arrested from Geetanjali Apartment, he had uploaded a fake video of muslim police officer beating a Hindu man. ADG Rajesh Kumar told, Sengupta has been charged under non-bailable sections of IPC.
The post had allegedly named two IPS officers from minority community and had claimed that they were deliberately targeting Hindus.
This is the third arrest in Bengal over controversial post on social networking sites. Just a couple of days ago, Kolkata police had registered two case against BJP leader Nupur Sharma for sharing an image of Gujarat riots and using the photographs to protest the recent Basirhat violence.
Two more people Ahmed Hussain and Bhabhatosh Chatterjee were arrested recently. While chatterjee was arrested for posting a video of one Bhojpuri movie and relating it to Baduria situation in Bengal, Hussain had alleged uploaded videos that could hurt religious sentiments.
